What is the difference between a pillar and a step?
A pillar is an absolute value drawn from zero. A step is a change drawn from the top of the previous bar.
Why is my Define Pillars card empty?
Define Pillars is used for predefined measures and static category charts. In dynamic measures charts, measures are always the pillars.
Why do my step bars go the wrong way?
The visual uses each value's sign. Make sure reductions such as costs or discounts are negative in the measure.
Can I add a total at the end automatically?
Yes. Turn on Define Pillars > Show Cumulative Total.
How do I compare several waterfalls fairly?
Set the same Minimum and Maximum on each visual's Y-Axis card. Either bound can be set alone, and zero is valid.
Does it use my measure's number format?
Yes, including dynamic format strings from calculation groups. Use Value Format on the Labels and Y-Axis cards to scale to thousands, millions or billions.
Can I colour bars with conditional formatting?
Yes. Turn off Format using Sentiments, then use the fx button on Bar Colour.
Does drill work on mobile?
Yes. Long press a bar to open the drill menu.
